Several resources list the Annie D as a buy-boat. In the past, buy-boats would make their rounds to buy seafood directly from harvesters. Buy-boats would offer slightly less for seafood harvests but waterman would often sell to buy-boats to enable them to stay and continue to harvest rather than having to return to dock to unload their wares.

The John Smith Shallop docked in Chestertown, Maryland.
This is a replica of the vessel used by Captain John Smith in 1608 as he explored the Chesapeake Bay.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Church Hill, MD:
St. Luke’s was erected in 1732. It was known as the “church on the hill” which is believed to be the inspiration for the name of the town.
